Overall a pleasant tour. A pity that most of the key venues were not open to the public. Although I understand owners desire for privacy, just driving past these places is not very satisfying. We went on the Lakes and Mountains tour the day before Sound of Music tour and were a bit disappointed to find ourselves covering some of the same territory. It would be good to make that clear to prospective participants.

We would have needed to spend some more time in one of the towns visited. We had less than half an hour to enjoy the beautiful town. I think this town was called St. Wolfgang.

It gave us a chance to see the wonderful mountains and countryside in the area around Salzburg. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful and highlighted all the many sights of interest. We enjoyed our Lakes and Mountains tour so much that we booked another tour for the next day! To be thoroughly recommended.

This is one single tour to one place, not both as inferred in the name of the tour. You need to be VERY fit as there are 1400 steps to go up and down and 2 very steep climbs to get to the entrance. Many had to sit for ages to master it. Also, you have to pay 17 euros on top of the tour cost to get into the caves

Definetly worth the money & would do it again. Loved all the Kristkindal Markets that where around the City & managed to purchase some lovely momentoes both for myself & to give as gifts to Family & Friends back home in Perth Western Australia. The city tour is very bad, you don´t have time to view anything. But the Salzburg Card is very nice, becaus to give to you free access to the museums, etc

I booked the tour specifically for visiting Hallstatt, but because the tour added the Sound of Music tour without any advance notice even though the tour extended one more hour, but the time stayed at Hallstatt was very short. Only allowed half an hour for lunch, so I ended up skipped lunch in order to run to see the view I had always wanted to see. Had I wanted the Sound of Music tour, I would had booked that tour instead. Even so, I had to say that the tour guide was very nice and worked very hard all throughout the 9 hours tour.

If you do one trip out of Salzburg do this one. Breathtaking scenery,quaint towns, enjoyably cruise on the lake. Our guide Harald was passionate and interesting. He made it fun. If you are in to photos this is the onefor you. We were lucky on the day we went as there were only three of us. Tour lasted about 8.5 hours. Loved it , one of the best we have ever done.

Very educational and yet not boring. Also, the tour guide from City Discovery is very professional. Even though I was the only one signed up for the tour that day, he still explained to me everything and drove me around to show me the many nice scenery along the way. He even recommended good eating outlets.

Very enjoyable & moving tour despite the cold. Brought tears to my eyes listening to Choir singing Silent Night despite the fact it was sung in German & then to have the village Church Bell chime Silent Night as we were departing the area on our way back to the bus was B..... Fantastic as our group in cluding the Japanese Family started singing Silent night in English. Definetly recommend everyone to do this tour but especially if in Salzburg on Christmas Eve. I did this tour on Christmas Day 2011 & had a B..... Fantastic time & managed to take some great photos which unfortunately I'm unable to download @ present as I'm away from my home in Perth where my thumb drive of photos is @ present but will send some once I return to Perth in April. My only advice to people is they wear mittens as well as gloves on their hands so that when they take gloves off to take all the spectacular photos that they will want to take they don't freeze their fingers off which is what happened to me. Not literally that goodness but still pretty cold fingers & wear 2 layers of very warm socks. As it snowed whilst we were out on our 90 minute sleigh ride this made the experience even more memorable as I have never experienced snow falling coming from Perth, Western Australia. Thankyou City Discovery for a very well organised & memorable day. I'll definetly return for another trip one day Nina Sharpe
