What To Expect
Join the Hotamovs family for a meal in their home in the crossroads of the Silk Road - Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Meet the members of their family; Pardaboy, Sobira, Bunyod, and Ozod. Pardaboy and Sobira are teachers, and Bunyod and Ozod are both students. Be treated like family as they show you to make the authentic home cooked Uzbek delicacies such as palov, manti, barak, dimlama, sashlik, halva, pahlava, and kazan kebab.
A translator will help facilitate the conversations. Experience life in Uzbekistan exactly how it is. This experience will be no different to the Hotamovs family having any of their local friends or relatives around. Hang out in the kitchen and chat about the affairs of the day that are impacting and bringing joy into their lives, and to know just how the locals really live.
Swing by the market or shops on the way home to pick up some last minute ingredients, which will be a chance for you to know the local spices and produce in Samarkand.
On arrival at the home of your hosts, grab the opportunity to do some cooking. You are invited to take part in this as much or as little as you like. Feel free to lend a hand with chopping produce. If you want to learn the recipes for the dishes being cooked, Pardaboy will be happy to show you the ropes!
When the food is ready, sit down together and share the meal prepared, enjoy the conversation, perhaps look at each others photographs, and even take some together!
