What To Expect
Our Overlook & Locks Coach Tour connects you to the Ballard, Fremont, Queen Anne, and South Lake Union neighborhoods. These neighborhoods are some of the oldest in Seattle and provide a truly unique tour experience. Keep your eyes peeled for the houseboat used in the film "Sleepless in Seattle" as we follow the Lake Union waterfront to Gas Works Park. Listen closely as your driver describes our bustling fishing industry as you cross over the most frequently-opened drawbridge in the United States.
From there, you'll head to the self-proclaimed "center of the known universe" found in downtown Fremont. With public art, Scandinavian and Norwegian cultural museums, shops and many organic and family-owned restaurants, you will see true Seattle living. Hop off the coach to snap a picture and climb the famous Fremont Troll statue hiding under the Aurora Bridge, then continue on to visit one of our most popular stops, the Ballard Locks. If you're lucky, you will catch a glimpse of salmon making their way up the fish ladder, built to help them navigate the locks. Glass panels below the water line make it possible to watch the fish as they leap through the ladder.
After 30 minutes at the Locks, we'll head to the East Overlook to see massive cruise ships, sweeping water views and more. The breathtaking views don't stop there though; Kerry Park Overlook has arguably the best view in town of Seattle's gorgeous skyline!
This two-hour tour is one of our most popular. Step into the mini coach outside the EMP Museum (our hub for all tours) at your designated departure time and get ready to go off the beaten path! Emerald City Trolley is one of the ONLY tour operators that takes guests on a captive tour of Fremont, Ballard, Queen Anne and their stunning overlooks. This tour is fully narrated by an experienced Seattle Driver, so you are sure to come away with plenty of Seattle trivia.
All stop locations allow you time to stretch your legs and explore, ask your driver questions, snap pictures of the sweeping views, and learn about the history and significance of the site. There are several restroom breaks during the tour. Guests are encouraged to bring bottled water.
The 4:30 PM tour will take you back to any downtown hotel, restaurant, or public transit station once your tour is finished. For FREE! So sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!
