Little Edo-Kawagoe

Popularly known as the “Little Edo” for its amazing resemblance with Edo (the old name of Tokyo), Kawagoe mostly preserved from the hits of allied bomb raids during World War II preserved until today the charms of an older merchant Tokyo as just it was before 1945. Discover the old conserved candy shop streets and traditional kurazukuri (storehouse) …Meiji, Taisho and early Showa period style architecture can be found protected for most part here in this part of Tokyo. Not to forget to mention Kawagoe’s local specialties: its extreme and tasteful variety of local beers (Koedo brewery)and candy sweets traditionally prepared from sweet potatoes which making process dates back from early Meiji period.

Kitain Temple
You will find the cultural property at the historic temple "Kitain"being related to Tokugawa Government.

Toki-no-Kane(Bell tower)
Bell tower is the symbol tower of Kawagoe. It is chimed four times a day ring through our city.

Kurazukuri Museum
There are some Kurazukuri(fireproof storehouse)being constructed in the period of shogunate government. You can see the life of common people in that Era.

Matsumoto Soy Sauce Storehouse
You will visit the soy sauce storehouse continued from Edo era. Then you can enjoy trying any sample used that soy sauce.

Candy Shop Street
The street has long been enjoyed by the residents of Kawagoe and by so many visitors.You can enjoy old-fashioned confectionery and find a classical atmosphere there.
