Asakusa Paper Lanterns Tour

A popular spot among tourists, Asakusa is known for the big, red paper lanterns that hang in a line from the Kaminari Gate (the entrance to Asakusa) to Sensoji Temple. The iconic lanterns are made from Japanese paper called Washi and have special Edo-Moji style calligraphy painted on them with Sumi ink.

This tour will cover more than 150 years of history as you learn about the lantern-making process and calligraphy from a skilled lantern-maker. You will also have a chance to write your own calligraphy on a paper lantern, making your very own ideal Japanese souvenir.

After that, you will walk through the temple grounds and take in more of Asakusa's rich history.

After you book

What if I need to change or cancel my booking?
That's ok. We will try to be as flexible as possible. But you must inform us by email of the change or cancellation as soon as possible.
