What To Expect
Visit Shinjuku, Japan's largest entertainment district, on this exciting evening walking tour. After taking in the unique architecture of Suehiro Vaudeville Theater and Hanazono Shrine, explore Kabukicho, one of Asia's largest entertainment districts.
At the end of your tour, you will walk through Omoide Yokocho, a small neighborhood reminiscent of Japan's Showa period, where you can delight upon cheap and delicious Japanese delicacies.
17:30 - Depart Keio Plaza Hotel to visit the following on foot:
Shinjuku Station East Exit - See shining buildings and bright neon lights pouring from every corner. Grand scale department stores such as Isetan and Shinjuku Marui One make this a popular area in Shinjuku for shopping.
Shinjuku Suehirotei Theater - Pass a traditional Japanese theater where comic storytelling performances are carried out daily by professionals known as rakugoka. Rakugoka have provided entertainment for the Japanese ever since the Edo period with their perfectly calculated timing, tone, expression, and gestures which brings life to any story.
Hanazono Shrine (15 min) - Head over to a tranquil shrine where the sounds of the busy city seem to mysteriously vanish. Bright orange walls, golden trims, and quirky stone statues welcome visitors 24 hours a day.
Golden Gai District - Explore the drinking central of Shinjuku still strongly reminiscent of the olden days, its narrow streets crammed from block to block with quirky bars, classic pubs, and traditional Japanese izakayas. Visit Izakaya, a Japanese-style bar (standing) and have a drink.
Kabukicho Area - Finish with a trip through Tokyo's red light district known for the bizarre sight of ordinary restaurants sandwiched by adult entertainment facilities and dressed up men and women with otherworldly hair.
