Venice Ghost Walk

See the romantic and mysterious side of Venice. This tour features an itinerary that will take you on a journey through the hidden Venice where you hear six intriguing ghost stories that will bring a chill to the night air. Listen to legends of sea monsters and of prominent Venetians such as Marco Polo’s wife.

In addition to ghost stories and legends, we will pass by many architectural treasures hidden in the back streets of Venice. We will start at the Rialto Bridge and descend into the labyrinth of sleeping canals and abandoned campi. Feel like you have Venice all to yourself and listen to the echoes of distant footsteps.

Listen to the gruesome tales of Venice’s past such as those of an old rat-infested prison that flooded during the high tide. Take a stroll along the narrow alleyway called the Street of the Assassins. Explore an old campi that used be the location of one of the numerous cemeteries in Venice. Go through one of the few surviving secret passageways used by inhabitants of palaces to flee from the authorities.

You will also get the chance to see architectural gems and follies lost in the back streets of Venice. See the Bovolo staircase that enabled a wealthy nobleman to ride his horse up to his private apartments within his palace.

This walking tour will give you an intimate knowledge of the Hidden Venice. The tour will finish near the Rialto Bridge where you can enjoy a fine view of the main bridge over the Grand Canal.
