What To Expect
Quiahuixtlan is the"place where rain is situated on high." On Bernal Hill, we will find vestiges of the most beautiful pre-Hispanic cemetery of the totanaca world, remains of pyramids and a ball game where we can observed a splendid panoramic view of the beaches of Villa Rica in the Gulf of Mexico.
Cempoala is located at 45 kilometres from the port. We will arrive at the place of "Twenty Waters", so-called because this place is surrounded by the rivers of the region.
Besides being one of the major archeological sites in the state, it has several architectural buildings such as Templo Mayor (Major Temple), Templo de las Chimeneas (Temple of the Chimneys), Circulo de los Gladiadores (Circle of Gladiators), Templo de las Caritas (Temple of Caritas), Templo del Dios del Viento y la Cruz (The Temple of Wind God and the Cross), and a beautiful site museum. This mystical complex was the second capital of the Totonac empire before being dominated by the Aztec Empire.
Then we will visit Antigua where we can find the legacies of the Spanish conquest, such as "Casa del Cabildo," the first municipality in New Spain, the "Ermita del Rosario" which is the first Catholic church in Mexico, and the house of Hernan Cortes.
