What To Expect
Join us at the historical Schonbrunn Palace during Christmas time for a great evening of classical music!
The Schonbrunn Palace Concerts have been an important part of the Viennese world of music and culture since 1997. At the historic Orangery of Schonbrunn Palace, the Schonbrunn Palace Orchestra Vienna and the Schonbrunn Palace Ensemble Vienna alternate to perform the most beautiful pieces of music ever written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Strauss.
The first part of the concert features selected overtures, arias and duets by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart such as "The Marriage of Figaro," "The Magic Flute" and "Don Giovanni". After the intermission, let the orchestra delight you with the most memorable operetta arias, waltzes and polkas by Johann Strauss, the "king of waltz," including "The Bat," "The Gipsy King," the "Blue Danube Waltz" and the "Radetzky March." Two opera singers, a soprano and a baritone, as well as a captivating ballet couple in historic dress will round out the evening.
The Baroque Schonbrunn Palace Orangery provides an extraordinary setting for events that feature classical music. It was frequently used as the perfect location for sumptuous festivities with musical performances back in the times of the Habsburg dynasty. The musical duel between Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri took place during one of these concerts. It was to remain a unique incident in the history of music.
The concert takes place at a location that played an important role throughout Mozart's career: the elaborately restored Schonbrunn Palace Orangery. It was frequently used as the perfect location for sumptuous festivities during the reign of the Habsburgs. We have decided to keep this tradition alive. The musical performance of the renowned Schonbrunn Palace Orchestra Vienna, accompanied by vocalists and ballet dancers, captivates the audience each and every evening.
Choose from 4 categories: VIP, A, B and C (front, middle and rear of the auditorium respectively).
VIP guests enjoy premium seating and will be served a glass of sparkling wine during the intermission.
