Take a tour of the Lake District, which is notable for being among where famed British author and painter Beatrix Potter spent many of her vacations and holidays. Here she found her love of landscape and wildlife, which became the subjects of her work. On this tour you will start by cruising along Lake Windermere, the largest lake on the continent, and get the spectacular views that inspired Potter throughout her years. Proceed to Hill Top Farm, a 17th-century property in New Sarney that Potter purchased and in which she wrote many of her children’s stories. The house is preserved exactly as Potter would have known it at the time, lending a great sense of authenticity to fans of her work who want to experience her home. Later on, go to Hawkshead, a medieval farming village that has many old sites, including St. Michael and All Angels Church, whose site has been active since the 14th century. Here you can also visit Hawkshead Grammar School Museum, in the same building where the old Hawkshead Grammar School once held classes which William Wordsworth attended. End your tour day at Tarn Hows, where you’ll get lovely views of the landscape stretching to the Langdale Pikes, before you return to Windermere.
