What To Expect
Be astounded by the unique and diverse landscape of Valais, a land of contrast wedged in the remote corner of southern Switzerland. Bathing the wonderfully unspoiled landscapes in a glorious light, Valais is blessed with 300 days of sunshine a year. Endlessly varied hiking trails let you explore the stunningly beautiful mountain landscape with its distinctive and rich flora and fauna. Admire the majestic view of the glaciers and mountain lakes and traverse nature reserves and forests which will lead you through thousands of years of natural history.
An activity which requires good to excellent fitness levels, you will need to be sure-footed and should not have fear of heights. Your Swiss Alpine Club member and biking enthusiast tour guide will organize the tour and make sure it suits your level of fitness and experience.
Some of the most impressive hiking destinations are Barrhorn, the Cornettes de Bise, Dent du Midi and the Ofenhorn. To make your adventure more challenging, you may also hike through the Fletschhorn or Grand Combin.
Biking paths from Bernese Oberland via Col de la Croix and Col du Pillon and mountain passes in and around the French department of Upper Savoy are also recommended. Cross country ski in Kandersteg and Lötschental is also possible from November to March.
After registration, a consultation will take place regarding options for extensions, grades of difficulty, meeting point and start time, overnight accommodations, deferral dates, or alternative programs in the event of precarious weather conditions.
