  • Start of West MacDonnell National Park Tour

    The tour will start from heading on to Larapinta Drive on west with the ochre coloured West MacDonnells. Then, pass by John Flynn Memorial at the base of Mt Gillen, and see Albert Namatjira's painting of the remains of the twin ghost gums.

  • Continue to Standley Chasm

    Have your morning tea at the deep red cleft of Standley Chasm and walk along the barren creek bed of Angkerle.

  • Take a short walk at Ellery Creek Big Hole

    Walk at the dry creek bed to Ellery Creek Big Hole just below a steep rocky escarpment to reach a cool waterhole. Then stop and see the fascinating Ochre Pits.

  • Visit Glen Helen Gorge

    Enjoy a ploughman's lunch with beer, wine or a soft drink at Glen Helen Gorge, a semi permanent waterhole. Swimming availability may vary on the time of the year.

  • Make a stop at Simpsons Gap

    Stop at the rich ochre colored rock formations of Simpsons Gap. See the different animals in the area such as black footed rock wallabies, local lizards, eagles, kytes and falcons that fly above the West MacDonnells.
