What To Expect
Spend 1.5 hours visiting the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, a rescue and rehab center for orphaned or injured animals in Alaska. With over 160 acres to call home, the moose, bison, musk oxen, bald eagle and Kodiak Brown Bear cubs (plus many others!) live in a natural habitat setting. This safari-like adventure is sure to please!
Photo stops along the Turnagain Arm will be made to explain our special tides, the bore tide and look for other animals along the way such as Dahl sheep, eagles, moose and beluga whales. A scenic drive down Portage Glacier Road gives additional chances to see Alaskan animals with a backdrop of the alpine glaciers in the mountains of Portage Valley. During salmon runs, you will also stop at a salmon viewing bridge.
