What To Expect
Embark on a morning ride from Bangkok to Chachoengsao Province, a province located to the east of Bangkok in Thailand's central region. Also known as Paet Rio, Chachoengsao which is a fertile agricultural area fed by the Bang Pakong River, has an old history back to the reign of King Borommatrailokkanat in the Ayutthaya period.
Upon arrival, visit Klong Suan, a 100-year old market which is more than just a fresh seafood display, giant bazaar or a touristic floating market. Established in the reign of King Rama V, the market is a living museum that still preserves the old Thai style especially the buildings and the furniture. Be charmed by endless rows of tiny old-fashioned wooden shops and restaurants with their terraces above the water.
Continue to the Wat Saman Rattanaram Temple, where you will see the biggest Giant Reclining Ganesh in Thailand. You will also see several large statues of other Buddhist images. Then, enjoy a sumptuous lunch of Thai dishes at a local restaurant.
After lunch, take a scenic boat ride along the Bang Pakong River. Admire the nature and daily lifestyles of the residents on the riverbanks, as well as their traditional stilt houses. After the cruise, proceed to Wat Po Bangkla, a large landmark temple offering serene grounds and lots of giant golden-crowned flying foxes, one of the largest bats in the world. Take a quick stop at Wat Paknam Jolo, a stunning golden chapel alongside the river. This is believed to be the only gold-painted temple in Thailand.
Lastly, visit Muban Namtan Sot or the Palm Sap Village, the sole production source of ready-to-drink palm sap in the East. A refreshing palm juice and fresh palm seed will also be served before traveling back to Bangkok.
