Explore Colonia Güell and the Church of Colònia Güell also know as Gaudi's Crypt with your audioguide.
You will be captivated by the charm and tranquility of the 19th century vestiges of the modernist area of Colonia Güell. Walk around Colonia Güell's streets and beautiful, singular buildings created by modernist architects. Your audioguide will allow you to understand the most typical characteristics of the modernist movement such as the use of brick walls as a vindication of a Catalan folk architecture, and the incorporation of new techniques and new materials such as iron or ceramic trencadis.
The audioguided itinerary includes the most unique buildings of Colonia Güell such as Ca l'Ordal by Francesc Berenguer and Joan Rubió, the only building of the Colonia inspired in the traditional Catalan country houses and Ca L'Espinal by Joan Rubió i Bellver, the building of the highest quality in the Colonia.
You will also see Can Soler de la Torre, an old catalan country house dating back to the XVII century, where the Güell familiy lived before the colony was constructed. Have a look at the typical elements of a catalan country house as well as to the adjacent chapel.
The Administrator's house, built differently thant the other buildings with a type of cooked brick designed to imitate ashlar stone will be your next stop. Do not miss the decorations at the entrance of the house and its cornices.
You will also see the School and the Teacher's House, the Ateneu Unió that was home to the bar and library, the Fontova Theater where all leisure and cultural events took place, the Doctor's House, the Cooperative headquarters by Francesc Berenguer and Joan Rubió, Sant Luis Parish Center, a social center for kids, the Carmelite Nun's Convent and the Inn.
Then, explore Gaudi's Crypt, the church of the Colonia Güell. According to Gaudi himself: had the church been finished it would have been a 'monumental model of the Sagrada Familia'.
You will be able to admire the place where Gaudi brought together for the first time all of his architectural innovations: the naves single space without using buttresses, flying buttresses or supporting walls.
Get to know more about the set of Gaudi's original solutions which answer to the desire for synthesis between structural planning, construction techniques, and architectural shapes and about aesthetic and symbolic values of the ornamental elements.

You will be required to leave some form of ID at the Visitors' Center as a deposit until you return your audioguide.
It is forbidden to eat, drink, or smoke in the Crypt and the Visitors' Center.
