Description

Meet your guide in downtown Barcelona and start your full-day tour in small groups with a drive to the famous hill of Montjüic, which offers excellent views over the city and was the site of the 1992 Olympic games. After a brief stop at the Catalunya National Art Museum (MNAC), from where we will tell you all about the history of Barcelona, we will make our way down to Plaça Espanya and on past the Modernist buildings of the Eixample area.

Our drive to the iconic Sagrada Famlia will take us up Passeig de Gracia, home to the famous designer stores, and the setting for two of Barcelona's most talked about Gaudï buildings: La Pedrera and Casa Batlló.

Finally, we will arrive at Sagrada Família where your guide will explain all about the history and importance before showing you inside for a self-guided tour including Skip the Line tikets! For many, this is the highlight of their Barcelona trip as they experience the wonders of the Sagrada Familia at their own pace without being rushed around by a guide.

The group will then head to the oldest part of Barcelona, the Barrio Gótico, which, as late, the mid 19th century was still surrounded by the Medieval walls. At this point, we will leave the bus and enjoy a stroll through the narrow winding streets of medieval Barcelona.

At the start of our short walk through the historic streets of Barcelona, we will stop for brief tour of one of Barcelona's most traditional indoor food markets: Mercat de Santa Caterina.

From there, we will travel back in time, going from the Roman era through to the early Middle Ages, when the Catalan counts were controlling the Mediterranean sea and Barcelona was the capital of an empire. During this part of the tour, we will also visit the Jewish Quarter, the Royal palace, the original 2000 year old Roman Temple and part of the Cathedral.

The final part of the morning tour takes in part of the Born district, where the guide will point out a variety of restaurants and tapas bars suitable for lunch before ending the tour in the magnificent Santa Maria del Mar church - one of the most beautiful in Barcelona.

The guide will be more than happy to make some recommendations for lunch or dinner in the area, or for further sightseeing or shopping trips.

After a quick lunch, we head straight to Park Güell, the famous city garden designed by Anton Gaudí. Your knowledgeable guide will explain the garden concept and introduce you to some of Gaudí's most bizarre creations before you skip the lines to explore it at your own pace.

From the Park, you will head straight to one of the most famous Gaudí buildings of them all: La Pedrera. Again, avoid the queues with your skip the Line tickets. Your visit will start at around 16:00 and you'll be able to visit the Pedrera at your own pace. The tour ends here.

This tour ran from 8:30 to approximately 4, with an hour and 10 minute break while we had lunch on our own. The guide was knowledg...eable, but not terribly friendly or accessible. She seemed to be eager to be done with our group (18 for the half-day tour, 11 for the full day). The best value of the tour, which cost $307.10 for two of us) was the bus, which got us to parts of the city we couldn't have walked to. It was comfortable, clean and cool. However, it would have been nice if a bottled water were provided on the bus. It also seemed like lunch should have been included for that price.

In two sites, we were given an introduction, then allowed to wander on our own. This was good in some ways, but also felt like we weren't getting our full money's worth. At the Casa Mila, our last stop, the guide gave us directions on how to get back to a main square, but it was up to us to find our way back on foot. After she provided a very short introduction, we toured the building, using audio guides, on our own. I don't know if one could recreate this tour using public transportation or not, nor could I find another alternative tour company online before our trip. I was left feeling I had paid a lot for not the best experience
