What To Expect
Meet your guide in Barcelona in the morning and head to Montserrat while enjoying the ride throughout the countryside in an air-conditioned vehicle.
Upon arrival, visit the Santa Maria de Montserrat, a Benedictine abbey located on the mountain. It is home to the famous Virgin of Montserrat, a wooden carving from the 12th-century, better known as the "Black Madonna" (La Moreneta).
Then, take the St. Joan funicular railway to ascent to the middle of the Montserrat range. Enjoy breathtaking views over the monastery and the mountain through the glass roof.
It is now time to begin your hiking adventure! Your guide will decide which iconic peak and route will hike, depending on the skills of the group and on how you feel at that moment.
Enjoy a break in a genuine shrine, a very unique and picturesque place to have a picnic lunch while taking in the beautiful sights.
Finally, explore a little-known area of Montserrat. If you are lucky, you might even see Spanish Ibex in their natural environment! See more shrines on your way down, before returning to the monastery and going back to Barcelona in the late afternoon.
