  • Passeig de Gràcia

Begin your private excursion at one of Barcelona's main streets. Passeig de Gràcia is home to many luxury and designer boutiques and modernist buildings such as Casa Batlló and La Pedrera, which the tour will tackle in passing.

  • Park Güell

The park's creation was financed by Eusebi Güell, a Catalan count and entrepreneur. Although unfinished, the park has become one of the popular and colorful attractions in Barcelona with its rich hodgepodge of architectural styles. In essence, it could be considered as one of Gaudí's largest canvas.

  • Façades of Casa Batlló and La Pedrera/Casa Milà

Pass by two of Gaudi's unconventional modernist buildings. Casa Batlló is a residential building with an oceanic inspiration apparent through its wavy mosaics. The La Pedrera was finished in 1911 for the Mila family with a structure that is comparable to a rocky quarry.

  • Sagrada Família

Gaudi's magnum opus remains a work in progress for over a century. After admiring the surreal architecture from the outside, skip the line for an interior view of its brilliant windows and towering vaults. Intricate details merging different styles make Sagrada Família an awe-inspiring masterpiece.

Description

The vision and genius of this world famous architect earned Barcelona, home of nearly all his buildings, a privileged place in the annals of the history of art. Be guided around his buildings and learn of the double-edged genius, aesthetic and technical, of his extraordinary imagination. Enter his world of fantasy and geometry. Don't leave Barcelona without truly understanding some of his more exceptional works. And you needn't waste time queuing at museums: your licensed guide will take you straight in.

You will start at Passeig de Gràcia, one of the main boulevards of the city. This is the street for luxury and design shops. There are several modernist buildings, the most exceptional being Casa Batlló and La Pedrera. The façade of the Casa Batlló is a colourful jewel in Antoni Gaudí's work. Not only is it original, it is also beautiful. The originality and creativity of form has earned it the nickname "the house of bones" or "dragon house."

La Pedrera (the Quarry) was a residential building built by Gaudí for the Milà family and finished in 1911. Its sculptured form has made it a reference piece and it has been declared World Heritage by UNESCO. In the attic there is an exhibit called Espai Gaudí, which has models and technical explanations of his buildings. One apartment has been restored and fully furnished in its original style, an example of how the well-to-do lived at the beginning of the 20th century. The roof terrace with its famous chimney stacks can also be visited.

You will then take a guided tour of the Park Güell, an unfinished project of a garden suburb by Antoni Gaudí that was financed by Eusebi Güell. The park brings together all the characteristic features of modernism and the architect's own particular vision (sinuous and organic shapes, integration with nature, broken tile mosaics). UNESCO has declared the park a World Heritage Site.

Another notable work of Gaudí is the Sagrada Familia. This unfinished temple is a synthesis of his overall conception of architecture. The richness of detail and its significance need explaining in order to appreciate this fascinating and extraordinary building in full.
