In 2008, the remarkable 29th Olympic Games were held in Beijing successfully. As the game site, the Olympic Park attracted the whole world's attention. It sat at the north end of the axis of the metropolis. The axis, the most important cultural vein of the city, presents a blend of urban artificial sights with natural scenery. The most famous and beautiful buildings in the park are the National Stadium and the National Aquatics Center. The National Stadium is also called "The Bird's Nest" due to its appearance. It hosted the opening and closing ceremonies, athletics, and football finals of the Olympics. The stadium has room for 91,000 spectators. The National Aquatics Center is known as the Water Cube. It hosted the swimming, diving and synchronized swimming events. It has a capacity of 17,000 and is located next to the National Stadium.
After lunch, the Hutong tour starts from the Drum & Bell Tower. Next, you will take to the streets of old Beijing by rickshaw, also known as pedicab. This portion of the tour allows you to get a taste of life in the city as your driver pedals through the old, narrow streets, or Hutongs.
