Overall, I still think this is the best luau I've been to so far.

Thank you all for the wonderful luau...the master of ceremonies graciously made us feel welcome...Not only an enjoyable evening, b...ut educational as well. more
Thank you Island Breeze for making the dreams of wish children come true. Your luau is always a highlight of their trip.
Great lua, and the best food that I have had a a lua. The entertainment was outstanding.
We had a wonderful time! The food was amazing and the experience was very fun. The staff was very friendly. I would definitely ...go back! more
This is the best luau i have ever been! Not only is it very affordable but the host is very informative on the cultures of the haw...aiians and the other polynesian tribes. My best friend and I had soo much fun in this luau and plus we are amazed at the fire show that they put on. We were very overwhelmingly satisfied w/ the amount of food that they serve (about 20 diff kinds of hawaiian dishes)not to mention the 2 hours open bar! I had too much mai tais w/in two hours! This is a great luau to go to for first timers or as regulars. more
The luau staff were great, but we wish the hotel staff at the lobby were more helpful. We were out of cash to pay $3 for the parki...ng, and all nearby ATM's were down. We asked the lobby staff to accept a credit card payment, but they would not budge. Finally one person in the Luau staff (Dan, I believe) helped us out (bless his heart!). So even though the activity was great, the ending was somewhat rocky. Regards, -Arnab. more
We had an amazing experience with the luau. The performances were very good! The staff was wonderful and the food was amazing. A l...ot of variety for choices in the foods. Would go again and will reccommend. more
We had a great time at Island Breeze. The location is excellent and the weather was perfect when we were there (April). The Mai ...Tai's were perfect and so was the food. Gotta try the poi!! Before the show started there was several interactive demonstrations that were fun. The show itself explained well the history and varied cultural influences of the Hawaiian islands. Overall a great evening. more
This was our first time to the Islands and our first Luau. We were not disappointed. We had a fantastic time and loved the enter...tainment. The host was great and very informative of the Hawiian and Polynesian cultures. We loved the costumes and how the dancers interacted with the guest. We upgraded our tickets and ended up sitting in the very front row. WoW! We could not have had a better time. more
Wonderful atmosphere, Excellent food! We loved that everyone had fun doing their job!
This was a great luau. I highly recommend it. There were fun activities that got everyone involved. The food was excellent and t...he entertainment was top notch. I especially enjoyed the fire dancer. more
This is the second luau I've attended and also the best. First the pre-luau activities were fun, ( my granddaughter tried a l...ittle hula and I learned how to open a coconut without power tools ) . The cocktails were very tasty . The food was outstanding , as well as the venue . And the show was very fun . Thanks more
It was my first time attending a luau. The dancers were awesome, and I def. loved the fire dancer. The quality of the foods was ...good. I'm pretty sure there are people who don't like certain foods, but hey, you are experience something different, right? I liked poi, though not too many people tried it. Overall, it was a great experience. more
We loved it!
Best meal we had on the island, & the entertainment was really well done. This was our first trip to the Big Island for our 20...th anniversary, so we were trying to pack in a wide variety of activities. A Luau was almost a must on the list of things to do. We were not sure what to expect, but the experience was one we wouldn't have wanted to miss. Very well done by everyone involved. Mahalo! more
This was my second time to go to the Island Breeze Luau. We really enjoyed the staff, food, and the show! This is really a speci...al show. The cast really seems to enjoy the songs and dance. A smile says a lot and they smile a lot! Don't miss it. If you have not seen a Island show make this one the one you go to see! more
What a fun time for everyone! The ability to learn more of the Island Traditions as well as birthday's, anniversaries, just ...married, or a salute to those in the armed forces it is something the whole family will enjoy. If you leave hungry it will be your own fault! more
There were a group of 8 of us and we all had a fantastic time. Thank you for all the knowledge and laughter. We will be talking a...nd most of all remembering this great experience for many moons to come! You added exactly "that special" something to my honeymoon:) more

Was one of the best luaus we have ever attended. The only thing I would change is they did not have the dancers take pictures with... guests after the show. Every other luau we have been to, has done this. more
The food was great - the performers were talented and seemed to love what they were doing. We paid for priority seating - it was ...well worth it. My only complaint - the photographer took only one photo of us and eyes were closed. We did not purchase the photo.Since cameras are digital - a quick check would have eliminated the problem. more
Never been to a luau and it had great food and enterment. I do not believe that I looked at my watch once.
I can't say enough good about this Luau. The food was good, the show was great. It was just a wonderful time. Ron
Great entertainment! Good food, good friends and good drinks.
Very entertaining evening. Performers were excellent and involved the audience. Food was very good and a there was a variety of ...foods to fit most diets. For the more adventurous, poke and poy to try. Enjoyed all the various polynesian dances--a tour of the south pacific without the boat. We had an excellent evening and would recommend this to anyone. more

This was an amazing Luau.. WOW! Can't say enough about it. The food was amazing, the entertainment, the entire night. We op...ted for preferred seating so we were escorted right in, greeted with a fresh flower lei and had our picture taken. That was just the start of a truly fantastic evening. It was held near the ocean at the King Kamehameha Hotel within view of the Ahuena Heiau. The Ahu'ena Heiau is the religious temple that served Kamehameha the Great when he returned to the Big Island in 1812. The show after dinner was spectacular, hard to describe with words. more

Great! Worth every penny. Great food
I really enjoyed our evening at the Island Breeze Luau. I learned a lot about the culture and the food was good.
This was a great experiance for our whole family. This was Mine and my wife's second Laua but the first for my two kids who a...re 7 and 12. I was a little worried about the kids experiance. They both had a wonderful time and cant wait to go back. The service was great and very entertaining. The food was excellant. As far as the entertainment, it was top notch. We learned alot about the differant cultures and were amazed by the talent of the dancers, who also added some good humor to the show. This is definitly a Laua we will be back to. more
It was a very enjoyable luau & location was beautiful!
My wife and I came to the luau with our 4 children ages 18, 16, 14, and 8. We all enjoyed the activities before the meal. The foo...d was great and lots of it. And the entertainment was informative, interesting, and very lively. If you have never done it, I recommend doing it at least once. I would go back for the food alone! more

I attended the luau as a reluctant adult. I booked the luau so that my 12 year old goddaughter would see Pacific Island dances and... experience some Hawaiian and South Pacific culture. It was way beyond my expectations! Of course it is touristy, but it is also a good overview of Pacific culture, dance, music and food. I also liked the light-heartedness of the event and it was super educational for my goddaughter. The food was much better than I expected and the activities were fun for both my 12 year old and myself. Thank you for a wonderful evening. more
Was a beautiful experience. The people were kind and fun loving. The dancers were incredible and the food was delicious!! Very ha...ppy we got to see this luau I would go again and recommend it to anyone!!! more

I can't say enough good things about this Luau! The food was good. The entertainment was outstanding! The setting was great...! A real come backer!!! more

First luau and a great one to attend. The performers were fantastic and the food was outstanding! Due to weather this one was held... indoors and the show was great even in the closed in area. more
We have been coming here for quite a while and have attended more luaus than I can count. The island breeze luau is the best. Wha...t makes this one great is the history of the island that is part of the program. Plus the buffet is the best one around. And just like in real estate, LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!!!!!! We recently moved here so a luau is always on the agenda when friends come. We still get as excited now as the first one we ever saw. Aloha more
Excellent show would highly recommend this to others
I am a local and have to say this is the best luau on the island.
The entertainment was amazing, and the food was great!
I've done 3 or 4 luaus in my day. This was the best. The service was top notch. I had one of the attendees watch my infant... son while we went for food. My 4 year old daughter danced up a storm while watching the professional dancers and the other patrons where kind beyond belief. Could not have gotten a better experience. more
My wife was hesitant to attend but did so as it was something I wanted to do. Afterwards she stated how much fun she had. The food... was great and she loved the show. Great job. more

We come to this Luau every year! We have a timeshare so this year was our 7th time to the big island and the 4th time to this show.... We tried shows in other places but came back to this one because the food is the best, the setting is right on the water, and the show is most entertaining. Everyone makes it fun from the host who takes tickets and encourages a lei purchase, the photographer, the announcer for the show, the musicians, the artists who go through many costume changes and the wait staff. We recommend this show to anyone who asks. Thank you all for your committed and talented time. See you next year! more
This was a wonderful end very enlightening and historical luau. This show was beautiful and colorful! We appreciate the wonderfu...l choices of foods and the special choice for my husband's vegetarian meal. The locale was extra good next to the temple, ocean and the historical exhibits in the hotel. more
Wonderful luau!! Would highly recommend!! Came here with my brother who was visiting and we had a blast. Mahalo!
We liked it very much. The narratot, the history, the various outfits, the sincerity of all who performed. And yes, the food was g...ood. more
We enjoyed the Island Breeze Luau. We were seated with a great group of people and enjoyed talking with them.. The show was very... well done. The fire dancer at the end was especially good. The food was very good and had a lot of choices on the buffet. more

The quality of entertainment at the luau was superb. I have attended a number of luaus on different islands, and I will honestly ...say that the Island Breeze Luau will be recommended with the highest praise...Very complete, well produced and effeciently conducted - reflects spirit and atmosphere of Hawaii. more

Is a must for first time visitors. A wonderful way to learn some history. Activities are a lot of fun, we really enjoyed them.
This luau was very nice. It was raining, so it had to be in doors. I think everyone should attend a luau in Hawaii, this was my ...third time and it has proven to always be a good experience. more
The luau was good food was great staff were great the show was ok and they would'nt let you video tape the show. It rained on... us for a little while before we ate but it cleared up after and we didn't have to go inside but all in all it was a fun time more
was said to be the best on this isle. Maui had a much better luau I thought. you have to pay extra for a flower lei. if you dont d...rink alcohol, it is a pricy dinner more
We enjoyed the show, and the MC was really funny and had a good voice. Before it started we ended up waiting in several different ...areas for them to set up. The cups for the drinks were too small, even for water and soda. I can understand having small cups for the alcohol, but it was difficult to drink enough water. It would have been more comfortable with the tables and chairs set up on the grass, instead of sitting on concrete (too hot!)Also, a bigger selection of vegetarian options would be good. Overall, as first timers to the Island, we really enjoyed the show. Thanks! more

Great shows! Dancers are great! Food is great!
Food was very good and it was helpful that they explained all the items on the buffet for those not familiar with Luau fare. The s...how was very well done and we had fun doing the activities at the beginning. Only downside is they do all the activities at the same time (hula lesson, palm weaving, etc.) so you can only do one. Also, if you're expecting a flower lei be prepared to pay extra for it or bring your own. We got ours at Costco, they sell a 2 pack of fresh orchid leis for only $6.50. Overall, a very fun evening right on the beach. more
Food and show was good. But, we would like to have some more interaction with audiences to perform Luau dance. We were expecting a...tleast that during the course of performances. Though it was done as brief introductory on Luau dance before the show began but it would be nice if we could participate as family then it would be very very more vibrant live show where family, friends, kids everybody can enjoy and have fun. This is a small request if they can spend some time during their main course of performance on this. Other than that food, drinks are delicious. Here is a small request if they can put name tag in front of the each of the dish / item so people who are verigiterian / non-vegiterian can pickup their food selection very easily and can avoid un-necessary waist on the food. Though the organizer anounced the all the food items but by putting a name tag for food items that are served on that day would not cost any more. Thanks more
It was a wonderful evening. We got there early, about 3pm, (highly recommended), paid an extra 15 dollars for front seating, and ...had a wonderful time. We were front row center of stage. With the early seating, we were first in line to get in, we were first in line for food and drinks, not to mention the view of the performance. The line was very long for those not paying the extra money. Food was so-so, but the dancers were stunning. My grand-daughter, 8, was absolutely enthralled with the show. Would recommend to first timers, but not sure if I would spend the money to see it twice. more
This was a very fun activity. The food and activities were great!
We had a great time. It even rained for a while but we still had fun. A good value. I wish they had asked for audience particip...ation though. more
Aloha! We attended Island Breeze Luau, and we had a great time! This was our first Luau, and our 12 and 16 year old was with us. T...hey had a great representation of Hawaiin Foods, as well as American foods for those who didnt want the full experience. The entertainment was great, and it was obvious that they loved their work. The passion for thier culture, and familys was beautifully done. By the time you left, you felt like you were part of their Ohana. The only thing I may suggest is to have more fresh fruits for those on a limited diet and more flower leis for sale, as they ran out the first 25 customers. I would give it a 4 1/2 stars. Thanks for the memories!! more

This is our third trip to the Islands and our second luau. The Island Brezze Luau far surpassed our first experience. Food was gr...eat and plenty of it and the entertainment outstanding. If this is your first or last luau make sure it's the Island Breeze Luau. more
A good show, we were sitting back by the food line and the sound was unclear. Several of us at the table were having difficulty he...aring the varoius people on the stage talking, causing some of the dancing questionable such as the cowboy. The dance was very good but we didn't understand how it fit in until I did research. A very good effort by all your people. Some hard feelings by those standing for quite a while and then the prefered guest march in and are given the best seats. You need to find a better way to do that. more
My husband and I were first time visitors to Hawaii. Going to a luah was one activity we chose. We took advantage of the preferred... seating and felt it was worth the money. We were seated right in the front, were able to go first to the buffet and received $5 off our picture and paid only $5 for parking. The entertainment was truly amazing. The food was o.k but we didn't expect a whole lot. The dancers even stood at the exit so you could get a picture with them. more
We were looking forward to our first adventure in Hawaii... an official Luau. It was a lot of fun and we enjoyed the history of th...e story telling. However, one downside was that we were instructed and confirmed to go to one hotel and when we arrived early to check in were told there was no show there that night... after going through channels we were told to go to another hotel and we checked in without issue. The evening was pleasant, we met other families and enjoyed the fun. The food was good but nothing too special but the atmosphere was pleasant, the breeze warm and the mai tai's cold! We enjoyed the experience overall. more
Wasn't sure how we would like this since we don't normally like touristy things, but we really enjoyed the show. Food wa...s good and I would recommend paying the premium upgrade amount as it helped us skip the line and then sit up front to watch the show. My son who just turned 14 really liked the activities and the show -- he even tried poi. My daughter who is 18 enjoyed the show -- especially the fire dance. Overall, the hosts and staff were very nice and accommodating. The performers were wonderful and even funny at times. I would highly recommend this event if you have never been to a Luau. more
First Time in Hawaii
My family and my in-laws attended this event. Everyone enjoyed the food and the dancers. I thought the banana bread (very yummy!...) was better than any of the dessert choices. All the performers looked like they really enjoy what they are doing. more
This Luau was fun and we were glad we went. The entertainment section was a little hokey but still good. I thought the open sess...ions before dinner including temporary tattoos, hula instruction, and making fish from banana leaves were very fun. The Mai Tais were great too! more
We enjoyed both the show and the food. We have been before but it was the first time for our daughter and granddaughter and they h...ad a wonderful time. We all ate well and enjoyed it very much more
Food was tasty but not hot enough. Mai Tai drinks were excellent.
My husband & I bought four tickets to see the Island Breeze Luau at the King Kamehameha Hotel on the Big Island for ourselves ...& our friends from Germany. The entertainment was a delight & there was a tremendous variety of food & also mai tais available included in the price. Though I'm not a big drinker, the punch bowls of mai tais were taken away pretty quickly after dinner was served. I would rather have alcohol with my meal than before, but if you're a cocktail before kind of person, you'll be fine. The locale was very serene in the evening with the glimmer of the island lights from the mountain side reflecting from the ocean. Overall, a very nice & worthwhile evening. more
We enjoyed the entertainment. There were a lot of people in attendance which made this a little difficult to see especially when ...people were standing and crowded around. We would have preferred a venue with a smaller attendance. Food was good. more
Very nice set up. We were late so they reset a table for us. Program was nice. Would have liked more interaction with audience ...participation. Food was plentiful and very good. Liquor could have been more upscale. Bartender and staff were very friendly and helpful. Beautiful setting. more

Entertainment was fine, nothing special. Food was so-so.
The luau tries to sell you a lot of souviniers from beginning to end. Food was alright. The dancers were funny and interactive (be...st part of the show). Small cluttered stage and dance routines were... routine. more
The show was really good, but the food was disappointing.
Island Breeze Luau at the King Kamehameha in Kailua - Where to begin? - We stood in line for over 30 minutes just to get in to be ...seated. A man at the gate opened the evening with a presentation which we could not hear. We were about midway in the line. Perhaps they could start using a microphone? That would help. The young ladies who greeted us selling leis as we entered were friendly. Seating was done by one harried man directing people where to go. There were 3 drink stations, a non-alcoholic punch, the Mai Tai table and a 6 ft. bar where one woman was dispensing really cheap wine and other drinks. She was the only person handling the drink stations. I don't think she likes her job since she wasn't very friendly. The Mai Tai was in a punch bowl and extremely watered down. Once gone, it was not refilled. My husband was told they do it this way because kids get into it. This is a poor excuse since they could station another person at that table. But staffing was at a bare minimum so t more
First, the Laua was held indoors beacause of the bad weather so that dampered our expections. Second, I was expecting photos with... the staff in their colorful outfits instead only my family by some rock background. Third, the food was average due to the pork had too much salt! and we never seen the roasting of the pig underground? The only thing I liked was the upgrade I paid for to seat upfront/better to take pictures from there and first to select our food at the buffet. Another good thing was the tribal tatoos. Next time, I will really look into more before I decide on another Laua, overall average...due to the show more
Dancing/show was very good. The dancers stayed in character and really gave it their all. Food was so-so and uninspired. We were... looking forward to more than just 3 (poke, poi, and lomi lomi salmon) authentic Hawaiian dishes on the buffet. The salad dressing labeled "papaya seed dressing" was actually poppy seed dressing--do they really think we're that stupid? I don't think we had "pulled pork" from the pig they took out of the pit-1st it didn't look big enough to yield the amount of pork on the buffet and second it would take a time machine to pull all that pork in the time between retrieving the piping hot whole pig and putting it out on the buffet. I expected pulled pork, slices, ribs, crispy skin--you know, the whole pig experience. When did German chocolate cake become a Hawaiian dessert? We're from the south-serving German chocolate cake at a Luau is like we southerners serving baked Alaska at a BBQ. more
All of the expected stuff was included -- pig roasted in the ground, band with ukes and drums, procession, hula, fire dancer. Woul...d have enjoyed some soft newer hawaiian music maybe before the show started or at the end -- popular songs from the 20th century. An older woman in a white mumu spent about 45 minutes preaching, 5 min between each act, about elders and family stuff, stopped just short of asking guests to visit the LDS. Got very tired of her. The description on the web should at the minimum have said "by mariott". If it was there, I missed it. If I had known this, I would have chosen a different luau. Food was edible to very good, depending. Fish dry and hard, pork very good. Poi surprisingly good. Open bar was basically mai tai punch and bud light or bud. At the price, would have expected better beer. Food service staff very nice and helpful. After paying about $120 a head, insulting to ask for $5 for parking. That should have been in the description, but I didn't see it. more
After having attended a Smith luau in Kauai, this paled by comparison. We paid about $100 per person, and that seemed a little pr...icey. The food was good, the entertainment was ok. But nothing to write home about. One plus was that it was at the hotel we were staying at. Do NOT pay to upgrade your seat - unless you're late to the party, you'll get a good seat and can see the entire show without issue. more
Not very authentic.... they used a band, dress looked store bought & sang some songs in English. The one on Maui used only a ...drum and / or a ukulele with traditional Hawaiian dress & language. more
There was no waiter service for drinks and the food was so so. Few performers compared to others I have attended . Did not compa...re to luaus on Maui or or one at the outrigger several years ago. The best part was the fire dancer. He did a great job . more
I was hoping to see more polynesian dance as well as more dancers with a big stage, not listening to songs sang by a middle age ma...n. My husband and i landed on the day we participated in this and hadn't eaten a real food for 12 hours or more and were starving. Even under the condition, we didn't think food was great. Didn't go for another plate. I've been to luau once in kuai island a few years ago. That one is a lot greater than this. If you've been to luau before, I would not recommend this. more
Very disappointed in this luau. Food was so-so, entertainment too short and only okay, staff expectation of audience involvement ...felt like a bad summer camp. Don't expect ANYTHING beyond food and some entertainment for the high price you paid. Everything else is extra. Spend your money elsewhere. more
Went to the Luau thinking it would be great to share with my family - 6 of us went to Hawaii to celebrate 2 graduations - one Grad... School, one High School. This was our final outing we did before going home. Not anything like what I attended on an other island 30 years ago (honeymoon) Overcrowded, felt like a cramped gross picnic, . There was no room for any personal space. Food awful and not really hot or cold. It was buffet style -which is fine - but there were no sanitary measures taken - sneeze guards etc - people reusing plates if they wanted more of anything. Coffee tasted like old weak grinds - you would think in Kona the coffee would be great like it was everywhere else. The staff was really nice - the entertainment that we did stay for was nice - However- we left after dinner because my son literally was served part of a pigs ear (the cartilage - he has a Masters in secondary education and teaches bio). I swear I almost threw up right then and there - really ???????? How about a little more attention to quality - I'm guessing if the health department was there that night they would have shut down the Luau. We left because it felt so gross. - a sad way to end a beautiful vacation. Update- Although we didn't say anything at the time Veltra read my review and contacted the hotel on our behalf. They refunded 50% of our bill. Very much appreciated - we can't wait to give it another try when we go back. more
