Description

Be one with nature as you enjoy the scenic view of Bruny Island atop the century-old Cape Bruny Lighthouse!

The tour will kick off at South Bruny National Park where the guide will meet you at the lighthouse. Learn the history of how the lighthouse was made and why it is where it is. After this, you will climb up at the magnificent spiral staircase to the first level where the light-keepers once sat to do their daily observations. This is where they also record the weather and shipping movements. Moving on from the first level, take the slightly steeper stairs to the light room or prism room. Here, your guide will explain how all the mechanisms of the lighthouse operated. Be amazed as you see huge lead crystal prisms that guided the shipping around the coastlines for 160 years.

While you just can't get enough of the rich historical background of the lighthouse, step out through the huge heavy cast iron door to the balcony that is 114 meters above sea level. The door was obviously built to withstand powerful winds and driving rain.

Once out on the balcony, the views are second to none. It is the perfect opportunity to get amazing photos of the coastline, with views of Tasman Sea, South East Cape, Whale Head and other small islands. Watch the water below for seals and albatross that live and feed in these waters.

The lighthouse experience will surely guarantee you the most relaxing and memorable tour of your life!
