“Agnes was wonderful. She was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about Budapest, the culture, the food and showed us some great restaurants. She even offered to send us her goulash recipe! Only wish we had taken the tour earlier in our visit. ...Charles B., – See more reviews
What To Expect
Take your taste buds on a delicious adventure with this Budapest food tour. Taste gulash, Hungary's most famous dish, and learn about traditions and new trends in Hungarian gastronomy - get tips on where to eat and drink while in the city!
Join us for this perfect tasting tour as we embark on a delicious adventure that will introduce you to some of the popular and lesser-known gastronomical treasures in Budapest. We shall start at the Central Market Hall, a city landmark that's over one century old. Here we'll taste some slices of salami and sausages and get acquainted with the building's history by hearing a brief introduction on what we eat and how we eat in Hungary.
Afterwards, we'll walk through some of the hidden streets of downtown and taste fresh water fish in a small local eatery. Then we'll proceed for a sweet bite and have a chocolate bonbon of our choice with either unique or traditional flavors from an award winning chocolate factory tucked away in Central Pest, which is known for its London Chocolate Award, pure chocolate, and fair trade production. We'll also go to an alternative, retro cafe for a spritzer and an "education" about Hungarian drinks.
Next, we'll head to the Jewish district, where the largest and most beautiful synagogue in Europe can be found. We'll also enjoy a tasting of local Jewish fare and learn a few words about kosher food and traditions. From there, we'll cross the World Heritage listed Andrassy Avenue and make our way to the piece de resistance - delicious, famous, local gulash soup and Hungarian strudels in an authentic restaurant near Saint Stephen Cathedral. We'll finish our Budapest food tour happily and full of some of the best eats that Budapest has to offer.
