This museum is a treasure-house of Coptic artifacts and documents. You will be fascinated by how the Christian minority reworked ancient Egyptian symbols into symbols of Christianity. The Coptic Museum was founded in 1914. Highlights include a sizeable collection of scripts, including the Gnostic gospels found at Nag Hammadi in 1945 and the Coptic Psalter, the oldest preserved codex in the world.
