What To Expect
See the remains of the ancient metropolis of a lost culture! Chichen Itza is one of the Seven Wonders of the World, with the tallest pyramids in South America. Admire its beauty and majesty in an early morning tour, away from the crowds and the heat!
This pre-Columbian city played an important role in the Mayan civilization from 600 A.D. to 1200, and remained a center of worship and pilgrimage until the arrival of the Spaniards. The Mayan people of the Yucatan peninsula still consider Chichen Itza to be a sacred site to this very day!
Chichen Itza was once the main metropolis of the Mayan people, who have created astonishing advancements for their time in the fields of calendars, writing systems, medical practices, mathematics and astronomy only to mysteriously disappear between 8 and 9 A.D.
Its tallest pyramid pays homage to the serpent god Kukulcan. At a certain time of day, watch the shadow of this great deity appear on the facade of the temple, created by the Mayans through their astronomic and architectural technologies!
