Description

Visit the most important archaeological zone in Yucatan, ancient capital of the Mayan Empire due to its extraordinary architecture beauty and its geographical location, founded in the year 514 where you can admire the majestic Observatory, the Sacred Cenote where sacrifices took place, the Ball Court, the largest Ball Game in Mesoamerica; it is 168 meter in length and 70 meters in width, with a perfect acoustic; Pyramid of Kukulcan, where both theology and astronomy combine to produce a unique spectacle twice a year, the Spring Equinox and the Autumn Solstice, days when the shadows projected over the architectonic elements of the building resemble a serpent descending to the ground.

The excursion begins picking up all the passengers from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the lobby of all major Cancun and Riviera Maya hotels. Upon arrival, we will go to the Cenote Ik Kil where you may take a nice swim and relax. We will arrive to the Mayaland Hotel to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch with fresh salads, soups, rice, meat, chicken, fish, vegetables and regional dishes (Includes two drinks: beer, soft drinks or bottled water). Then we will skip the line by heading through the hotel private entrance, providing each person with a cold bottle of water to stay hydrated. At the Chichen Itza archaeological site you will be taken on a 2 hour - tour with a certified guide who will introduce you to the secrets of the Mayans. Admire the Temple of the Warriors, The Ball Court, The Observatory, The Nunnery and the Pyramid of Kukulkan, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.

Upon your return to the Mayaland Resort, we will show you how henequen, the main Yucatecan export of the 19th and 20th century, is used. This is a hands-on activity where you will be making your own handcrafted souvenirs! If you wish to relax, you may enjoy all of the amenities our resort has to offer. These include the bar, restaurants, and pools and the Cenote Xtolok.

We will regroup and head to see the Light and Sound Show beginning at 20:00 in spring/summer and at 19:00 in autumn/winter where you can listen and watch as a projected light show brings the archaeological elements of the buildings to life!

Watch as a serpent descends down to the ground (equinox show), Mayan warriors play the ball game, and all the sounds of life and death blaze through the ancient city. This might be your most exciting history lesson yet!

After the show you will enjoy a boxed snack including fruit, bottled water, sandwich and sweet roll. On the way back, soft drinks and bottled water are included on board.
