What To Expect
Its fortifications still stand strong in the walled city today, and the colonial architecture seen in houses, government buildings, and churches aided in its 1984 designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
On your tour, your guide will cover a range of topics and introduce you to the traditions and culture of the city. Head to the historic center to see the famous clock tower, Torre del Reloj, and continue on to the square, Plaza de la Aduana. Head over to the Cathedral of Cartagena before ending up at Plaza de Bolivar, home to the Gold Museum, Inquisition Palace, and the Theater of Heredia. As you walk, you will learn the significance of the many sites.
After visiting the sights in the historical town we will drive to an old monastery that holds mysterious secrets and has a privileged view over Cartagena bay, at Cerro de la Popa. Next you will see Castillo San Felipe one of the most important fortresses in the Caribbean, from where you can admire breathtaking views of the city and the sea. Afterward, travel over to the Bóvedas district, an area known for its craft stores and art galleries, and spend some time browsing the local shops.
