Start the tour at the impressive Torre del Reloj (the "Clock Tower"), which is the entrance to the old town of Cartagena. Discover the Plaza del Comercio, where slave trade used to take place. Enjoy the old buildings's architecture with their colonial balconies while making your way to Plaza de Bolívar.
Formerly known as Plaza de Inquisición, it is home to some of the city's most elegant colonial buildings. Pass numerous outdoor cafes and the large statue of Simon Bolívar in the center of the plaza, and enjoy a visit of the Cathedral of Cartagena.
Dating back to the 16th century, the Cathedral is located across the plaza from the Government Palace. Nearly preserved in its original form, the interior of the cathedral is simply decorated with massive semicircular archways supported on large stone columns.
Visit the Gold Museum, featuring an amazing collection of gold and ceramics from the main pre-Columbian cultures.
Finally, walk to the walls that surround the beautiful Old City and marvek at the view and splendid architecture.
