What To Expect
Start your tour by travelling 58 kilometers to Mahabalipuram, the former capital of Pallava Kings. Our first destination is known for its splendid 7th and 8th century art and architecture, especially stone carvings. Our stops include a visit to the magnificent Shore Temple, Arjuna's Penance, rock-cut caves from the 6th and 7th century, Five Rathas Shrine, Krishna Mandapam, and many more.
Next, we'll have lunch at a local restaurant (own expense) before heading to Kanchipuram.
Kanchipuram, known as a golden city of a thousand temples, is a one of the seven sacred cities of India. It used to be the capital of Pallaya, the Chola and Vijayanagar Kings. The city has some of the most grand and majestic temples that reflect architectural experimentation, restructuring and refinement that underwent the different dynasties. We'll visit historic temples such as the Kailasanatha Temple, Vaikunda Perumal Temple, Kamaskhi Amman Temple and Ekambareswara Temple, which were all architectural splendors of the medieval period.
