What To Expect
Start your adventure with a morning pick-up from your hotel or airport in Colombo and then venture southwest to the vibrant city of Galle. En route, visit the wetland of the Maduganga River by boat which holds a 61-hectare mangrove spread. This natural wonder has proven of immense bio-ecological value with 14 out of the 24 varieties of mangroves of Sri Lanka, being found in this environment.
Continue to Ambalangoda where the famed 'devil masks' are produced. We will drive on to Galle, the Old Portuguese Fort rebuilt by the Dutch. This Fort is still in a fine state of presentation and today, most of the administration of Galle is carried out from here. Galle is also the center of the ebony wood carvers and handmade laces; you will be able to visit these workshops in the course of the tour.
