Forget about those scary-looking medieval castles. Frederiksborg Castle is as a fairytale castle should be. It has consumed our childhood imaginings and spun them all into a magical setting right in the heart of Hilleroed. Built by Frederick II in 1562 and rebuilt in 186 when it was destroyed in a fire six years earlier, Frederiksborg Castle houses the National History Museum as well as wonderful collection of photographs and paintings.
