Meet your guide at Awamaki Fair Trade Store, a nonprofit social organization located in the main street of Ollantaytambo, near to the Ollantaytambo Inca archaeological site.

Then, enjoy a 45 minute scenic drive from Ollantaytambo to the upper Andean communities of Patacancha or Huilloc, known for their traditional lifestyle, dress, and weaving. Do not miss the views on the Inca terracing, waterfalls, and traditional farm plots that are still used today as you ascend nearly 1000m.

Visit the traditional Andean village of Patacancha or Huilloc and meet the representatives of the communities at their weaving center.

Learn from these Quechua women about their daily lives and the ancient art of weaving as it relates to Andean culture and history.

Then, enjoy a demonstration of the traditional weaving process by female weavers in the Awamaki Weaving Cooperative. You will also discover the potential of native dye plants that have been used for centuries.

After that, test your own weaving skills and give spinning on an Andean drop spindle a try. A woman from the cooperative will work with you one by one to teach the basic techniques of weaving. You'll create your own peruvian 'pulsera' (bracelet) to take home and showcase your new skills.

Visit a traditional Quechua home with one of the weavers and have the opportunity to purchase high quality, handmade textiles directly from artisans.

Enjoy a lovingly prepared home-cooked meal in the house of a weaver. Your delicious lunch will include a soup and main course.

Cooked in an underground earth oven, this festive feast is a highlight of the tour and will provide plenty of food for you and your Quechua hosts to enjoy.
