What To Expect
Relive the origins of the mystical Easter Island. Visit the Ana Kai Tangata cave, with picture stories of the sea swallows and their role in the life of the Rapa Nui.
See the large basalt slabs at the Vinapu archaeological site, and take in the majesty of the Rano Kau Volcano and the beauty of the nature in its vicinity. The style of stonework used on the Vinapu cannot be found in any other Polynesian site, although mysteriously similar stonework styles emerged in later years on South American territories.
The climax of the tour is at the Orongo ceremonial center, dramatically located on the crater lip of Rano Kau which is at the edge of a 250-meter sea cliff. Orongo was the venue of the Birdman ceremony performance that once selected the Rapa Nui's kings, and has witnessed the history of the Tangata Manu ("birdman") cult, a religious tradition that astounds people until today.
