Journey around the western part of the Highlands from Edinburgh and explore its main attractions such as Loch Lomond, Loch Awe, Kilchurn Castle, Oban and Inveraray.
Unfold the hidden gems of the west of Highlands as you tour around the region and explore its wonderful attractions, scenery and places.
Start the tour at Loch Lomond, the largest fresh water loch in Scotland, and stop by the conservation village of Luss for some coffee and sightseeing. Then, head deep into the Highlands and pass by the picturesque scenery of Loch Awe, longest loch in Scotland, as you learn more about the fascinating history of the place. Have a glimpse of the historic Kilchurn Castle, the stronghold of the Campbell Clan, and the Pass of Brander, the place where Robert the Bruce had his significant victory.
Continue to the Victorian seaside town of Oban and climb up the famous McCaig's Tower as you take in the views around. Take delight in a delightful seafood dish for lunch.
On the way back, explore Inveraray, a loch-side town, and visit the seat of the Campbell Clan. Take in the beauty of Loch Fyne and enjoy some ice cream, homemade sweets and cakes, coffee and drinks.
I recommend The West Highland Experience (through Highland Experience tours) without reservation. By far one of the best coach tours I've ever taken. My guide, Neil, did an amazing job telling entertaining stories and connecting what we were seeing as we drove to Scottish history. Oban, Kilchurn Castle, and St. Conan's Kirk were stunningly gorgeous. I would have liked a bit more time at Oban, but overall the pace of the tour was good with photo stops for the right amount of time.
