What To Expect
The Alhambra will open its doors to you on this tour! Step into a maze-like palace with endless attractions and secrets. Marvel at the beauty and intricacy of the tilework and carvings that adorn its walls and pillars. The lavishly decorated palaces have stood the test of time and cultural change, safeguarding the opulence and heritage of the Moors.
The Palace of Charles the V is an outstanding innovation in Renaissance architecture, built by Pedro Machuca inspired by the style of the Roman Coloseum. It is a massive, imposing structure that asserts the triumph of Christianity over Islam, being constructed in the site of the Alhambra.
Escape to the Generalife gardens, a feat of architecture, its name meaning the architect's garden. Delights await at every corner as you bask in its relaxing atmosphere and beautiful flower beds, courtyards, statues, ponds and musical fountains. Made for kings, this place will take you on a journey of calm and happiness.
Afterwards, embark on a city tour of Granada by train! Numerous sites will be seen, and there is something on this tour for everybody. History buffs will enjoy the Granada Cathedral and Royal Chapel, which houses the remains and colorful history of the Catholic monarchs who instigated the monumental Reconquista. We will also visit the emblematic Albaycin, which still preserves the original roads and structures of the medieval Jewish community, including the gate that once locked in the whole Jewish population at night. Nature lovers will marvel at the beauty of the sunset from the Mirador de San Nicolas and the lush greenery of the Alhambra forest.
Shoppers will find their paradise in Calle Alhondiga, Puerta Real, Plaza Mariana Pineda and Calle Molinos, where they get the chance to peruse the different stores and explore the different cafes and restaurants the city has to offer. See and be seen at the Paseo de los Tristes, the former public square still frequented by citizens until today. We then return to the Alhambra for the trip back to the meeting point.
