Walk through the historic Central Market, and see its workshops and multicolored stalls where you will find the Medici Chapels and the Basilica of S. Lorenzo, the church of the Medici family. Admire the beauty of the Palazzo Medici Riccardi and in no time we reach Piazza del Duomo, where you can admire the impressive Cathedral with the Cupola del Brunelleschi, Giotto's bell tower and the Baptistery of S. John with the Gates of Paradise.

Journey on the medieval quarters where Dante Alighieri, the great Poet of the "Divine Comedy" and Beatrice lived. See the beautiful Badia Fiorentina with the characteristic hexagonal tower. Next is the austere Bargello Palace. Walk along the Arno river and see the Ponte Vecchio, the famous "jewels bridge". Then we proceed to the picturesque Mercato della Paglia (Straw Market), and visit the famous Fontana del Porcellino. There is an elegant Piazza della Signoria, a great "outdoor sculpture museum" dominated by the imposing Palazzo Vecchio.

Visit the Uffizi Gallery, one of the most important museums in the world. By crossing the bridge, you will reach the wonderful Pitti Palace where our tour ends.

The walking tour will include a visit to the elegant cloister, designed by Brunelleschi, the architect of the famous Dome: a green oasis of peace in the heart of the Medici district.

    This stimulating, thoroughly comprehensive, guided walking tour starts from the famous San Lorenzo Central market area, teeming with workshops and brightly decorative stalls, which surround the Medici Chapels and the Basilica of San Lorenzo - the Medici family parish church.

  • Piazza del Duomo

    Shortly afterwards you turn into Piazza del Duomo, where
    the triumphant bulk of the Cathedral greets
    our eyes with its dome by Brunelleschi, the bell-tower by
    Giotto and the Baptistery of St. John with its Doors of

  • Bargello Palace

    You thread through the medieval quarters where Dante Alighieri and Beatrice Portinari lived, until you come to the road covering the old Roman eastern wall and look up at the Bargello Palace.

  • Porcellino (little boar) Fountain

    Turning westwards, you enter Piazza della Signoria, a great open-air sculpture museum, dominated by the imposing Palazzo della Signoria.

    Next, the Uffizi Gallery, one of the most important museums in the world. You then proceed to the Straw Market to see the famous Porcellino Fountain.

  • Ponte Vecchio

    You then walk down the street leading to the Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge), to be dazzled by the gold and jewels in the little medieval shops, as you cross the river Arno. Enjoy lovely views up and down river while walking along Via Guicciardini until you reach the square leading up to Pitti Palace.
