What To Expect
It is a walk in contact with the art, history and nature of Florence - all the while enjoying a wonderful and unforgettable view of the city.
It is easy to reach the hill of Piazzale Michelangelo through the picturesque and lively area of S. Niccolò and then look down at the most iconic view of the city, with its priceless art heritage, its ancient walls and sweet hills below. Then climb up to the splendid Basilica of S. Miniato al Monte, an 11th century jewel of Florentine Romanesque that deserves a look inside.
A monastery and an antique herbal shop are also annexed where the monks sell their famous liqueurs. From the church courtyard, one of the highest observation points, you will enjoy yet another breathtaking view of the city.
Then, through splendid routes in green areas you will reach the Forte di Belvedere, an imposing fortress dating back to end of the sixteenth century adjacent to the ancient walls of the city. From there, descending a steep and unique street flanked by ancient houses, you will reach the historical center of the city again and this magnificent tour ends at Ponte Vecchio.
As the tour ends, your Guide will be glad to escort you, if you wish, to a typical restaurant where you can enjoy the authentic cuisine of Florence: after an appetizer of croutons and bruschette (toasted slices of bread with fesh tomatoes and olive oil), taste the flavored Florentine Beefsteak served with green salad and cannellini beans with Tuscan oil, and then the famous Cantuccini biscuits from Prato with the typical dessert wine Vin Santo.
