The country’s most prominent literary son Johann Wolfgang von Goethe inherited this bourgeois townhouse from his father. Ruined during the 2nd World War but was eventually refurbished, Goethe’s House now offers a library, study, and a puppet theater and is adjacent to a museum showcasing the writer’s portraits made by his friends.
