About Istanbul Galata Tower & Bridge

A lift up 12 floors and a turn at the parapet will give you a panoramic view of Istanbul… and then some. Enjoy views of the Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, and the Hagia Sophia crowning the Sultanahmet peninsula… Built in 1384 as lookout point over the Golden Horn, Galata Tower has since become multipurpose, serving as jail for prisoners of war, shipyard, warehouse, and fire station.

Enjoy a stroll across the Galata Bridge for direct contact with rich local culture and with fishermen excitedly casting lines into the water, hoping for the Big Fish. If all that anticipation for fish has whipped up an appetite, then step inside one of the restaurants sitting on the bridge’s lower level.
