What To Expect
Learn about the traditional art form of hand block printing, considerably the most famous in Rajasthan. Get in touch with your creative side, or develop your skills, while learning side by side our skilled craftsperson. Be fascinated by the prints made with small wooden blocks and colors extracted from nature.
Day 1: Introduction to Printing
10:00 to 11:30. The program leader will take you around the factory, showing you samples of printed textile, as well as the wooden blocks and vegetable dye used in the printing process.
11:30 to 17:30.Then, time to make your own prints! Choose one of the already carved blocks from the factory to design the cotton scarf provided in your program kit. You will be taught two types of printing techniques - bagru style and daboo style. There will be a short tea break in the afternoon to refresh you.
Day 2: Post-Printing Process
10:00 to 13:30Your workshop doesn't end with the printint! Listen carefully as you are taught the indispensable techniques in post-printing handling such as boiling, dyeing, color fixing and washing.
There will be a short break for lunch (at your own expense) at 13:30.
14:00 to 17:00. During this time you will continue on with your work. Then, after passing through the post-printing processes, your fabrics are ready to be taken home! To conclude this unique experience, you will be given a certificate of participation at the end of the workshop.
