What To Expect
Start the tour by proceeding to Mother Teresa's House at the Missionaries of Charity Headquarters. Upon arrival, our local guide will assist you in getting the details and permission for visiting the other centers.
Next, visit the nearby Nirmala Shishu Bhawan, which is the Orphanage / Children's Home. Afterwards, we'll have lunch at a local restaurant.
We'll also proceed to visit 1 or 2 more centers before heading back to your hotel.
Mother Teresa was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, in Skopje, the capital of Macedonia on 26 August 1910. She left her birth city at the age of 18 years old to join the Institute of Blessed Virgin Mary in Ireland, which is popularly known as Sisters of Loreto. She then received the name Sister Mary Teresa. In 1929, about six months of training in Dublin, she went to India. She took her initial vows as a nun in 1931.
Formed by Mother Teresa in 1950, the objective of the Missionaries of Charity is to provide care and support to the sick, mentally ill, aged, victims of incorrigible diseases, and abandoned children. Today, it consists of over 4,000 nuns and has expanded its wings to over 100 countries. It has opened around 20 homes in Calcutta, including a school for street children.

All Missionaries of Charity centers are closed between 12:00 to 15:00. It is recommended that guests have lunch during this time.
