What To Expect
This tour will give you an opportunity to experience historical Japan. Our adventure starts with a ride on a shinkansen for Nagoya where we will be transferred to a limited express for the ancient and tranquil city of Takayama.
Day1 : Kyoto - Takayama
Start with a morning pick up service from your hotels. Board the Shinkansen for Nagoya, and transfer to a limited express train for Takayama, an ancient, tranquil city called "Little Kyoto".
In the afternoon, stroll through Takayama, visiting Yatai Kaikan Hall, where colorfully decorated traditional festival floats are displayed, Kusakabe Folk Craft Museum, formerly the residence of powerful merchants under government patronage, and the streets of Kami Sannomachi, which preserve traditional Japanese wooden houses.
Day 2: Takayama - Shirakawago - Kanazawa
Enjoy a leisurely morning shopping and interacting with the locals at Takayama Morning Market then board a motorcoach to Shirakawago, designated in 1995 as a World Heritage site. Stop at Shirakawago Observatory for a panoramic view of the village before proceeding to Wada House, the oldest and largest remaining gassho-zukuri house in the village. Enjoy a Japanese-style lunch and head to Kanazawa.
Day 3: Kanazawa - Tokyo
Go sightseeing in Kanazawa in the morning and see Namagachi Samurai District, the former Samurai Residence (Nomura Residence) and Kenrokuen Garden. Visit Higashi Chaya District, a historic entertainment district with teahouses where geisha perform, and stop at Hakuza (Gold Leaf Shop) before departing for Kyoto. You will be dropped off at a hotel in Kyoto.
