What To Expect
Immerse yourself into the rich culture and tradition of two of Japan's oldest cities, Uji and Nara.
Depart from Kyoto in the morning with your friendly tour guide. Upon arrival at Uji, visit the ancient Uji Bridge and enjoy a morning stroll around Furitsu Uji Park. Then, experience a simple tea ceremony at Taiho-an, an authentic tea house on the bank of Uji River. Proceed to the UNESCO World Heritage Site-listed Byodo-in Temple, a Buddhist temple that houses Buddha statue and other images, surrounded by a beautiful garden.
Head back to Kyoto and take delight in a Western-style lunch at New Miyako Hotel.
After lunch, continue to Nara and visit Todai-ji Temple, one of the country's most historically significant temples. This awe-inspiring wooden structure is a symbol of the Nara Period and houses one of the largest bronze Buddha statues in Japan. Since the temple grounds cover most of northern Nara Park, you will also encounter some deer roaming freely during your visit. Next, visit picturesque the Kasuga Taisha Shrine, a Shinto shrine famous for its many bronze and stone lanterns. Last stop will be at Nara Nagomikan, a well-known souvenir shop where you can find Nara sweets, locally brewed sake, traditional Japanese craft and more!
Tour concludes with a drop off at your Kyoto city-center hotel.
