What To Expect
We'll head first to the Yangtze River, the third longest river in the world. This majestic body of water is widely considered as China's mother river. It flows through the center of China, starting from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the Yangtze River surges southeastward until it meets the Hengduan Mountain Range. About 44 miles outside of Lijiang, an unusual geological phenomenon forces the Yangtze to make a sudden V-shaped bend and flow to the northeast.
On the mountain at the river's bend, stands the Stone Drum (Shigu) Town. This ancient town is named after a drum-shaped marble plaque. Here you'll see traces of the town's glorious past as a vibrant trade bazaar. The natural scenery around the area is also stunning.
We'll head for lunch at a local restaurant before proceeding to the Tiger Leaping Gorge (Hutiaoxia Gorge) - the longest, deepest and narrowest gorge in the world.
The Tiger Leaping Gorge is located between the Yulong Snow Mountain of Lijiang and the Haba Snow Mountain of Zhongdian. Legend has it that at the narrowest section of the gorge, a tiger can leap over it by stepping on the rock in the middle of the river, thus it is named the Tiger Leaping Gorge.
Lastly, we'll visit the Lashi Sea, a complete wetland ecological system made up of lakes, wetland, dams and mountains, before heading back to your hotel.
