Description

Discover the city of Lisbon together with a knowledgeable guide who will tell you all about the history behind each place you visit.

Start off by passing the picturesque views of Lisbon's hills as you make your way to your first destination, the Belem Quarter. Decorated with antiquated monuments from the 15th and 16th centuries, the Belem Quarter presents a medieval paradise for history fanatics. Marvel at the sight of the Belem Tower, a fortified tower built with Manueline-style architecture. This UNESCO World Heritage Site represents the discoveries made during the Portuguese maritime explorations.

Then, visit the St. Jeronimos Monastery, another famous World Heritage Site of Portugal. This monastery was built as a thank you to the Virgin Mary for Vasco de Gama's successful journey to India. The construction of the monastery was funded by the treasures taken home from the explorations in South America, Africa, and Asia.

Next, head over to the Monument to the Discoveries, a monument built to honor the 500th anniversary of Henry the Navigator's death. Standing at the marina of Belem, the monument rises above the starting point of Portugal's brave explorers.

Feast your eyes at the myriad of 18th century luxury coaches at the National Coach Museum. This museum showcases the city's finest collection of historical carriages from the 17th to the 19th century.

Take a trip back memory lane on your visit to Alfama, the oldest district in Lisbon where 17th century churches and excellent museums are plenty. Stop by a handicraft shop where you will get the chance to taste authentic Port wine.

End the tour with a visit to the Rossio Square. Present since the Middle Ages, the Rossio Square has been the venue for several bullfights, celebrations, executions, and revolutions. Today, it is a popular meeting point for Lisbon tourists and locals alike.

It was our first time in Lisbon, so we decided to join a sightseeing tour. We visited all famous places and stopped for longer at ...the main attractions. It was a very good and efficient tour.
The guide was very polite and his explanations were easy to understand.

It's short, but it's enough to see all major attractions of Lisbon. The tomb of Vasco da Gama at the Jeronimos Monastery... was surrounded by the crowds of tourists.

I like to do a sightseeing tour to get an overview of the city. I only had time for a half day tour and I would not recommend this... one, The bus held about 10 people and was comfortable. The tour was supposed to be in Portuguese & English. It was approximately 90% Portuguese and 10% English. First stop was the Coach museum- boring and we spent too much time there. Belem Tower was a 10 minute stop for pics. St Jerome monastery was really beautiful. Tour ended in Alfama, we walked a few streets. Took us to a shop and said she had a “surprise” for us- we got a tiny taste of port. The tour itinerary said “port tasting”, so this was expected (not a surprise). more

Molly M

Terrible tour guide, spent an hour and a half at the coach museum and only twenty minutes at the Belem tower with zero explanation.... We left in the middle we were so disappointed. more
