Discover Sintra, a magnificent village where the Royal Family used to live during the summer and taste the local traditional pastry. Visit Sintra National Palace. Discover Cabo de Roca, the coastal city of Cascais and Estoril.
Explore some of Lisbon's finest gems on a historical tour that is bound to wow you at every stop!
Start off with a tour of the Sintra Village. This 19th century village is known for its myriad of massive estates, castles, and royal retreats. Surrounded by thick forests and pastel-colored manors, Sintra's fairytale-like features has made it a favorite vacation spot for Portuguese royals.
During your tour of the village, visit the famous Sintra National Palace. Also known as the Pena Palace, this Romanticist castle combines various types of architecture including Neo-Gothic, Neo-Renaissance, and Neo-Islamic. Built with attractive stone carvings, hundreds of Portuguese tiles, and a splash of vivid colors, its architecture is rumored to have inspired the design of Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty Castle and some of Gaudi's works in Barcelona as well.
After an entertaining tour around the palace, head out to Cabo da Roca,a cape located at the westernmost part of the Portuguese mainland. Here, you may enjoy a 180 degree view of the Serra de Sintra. An attractive lighthouse sits atop this windy headland and has been there since the 17th century.
Next, come see the Boca do Inferno or Hell's Mouth as many call it. This chasm was formed from the ceaseless pounding of the waters of the Atlantic Ocean through its rocky surface. There are pathways that allow tourists to climb down the cliff and see the rock formation caused by the heavy impact of the waves from either side.
Get the chance to see the Guincho Beach and its crystalline waters. By reason of its strong winds and dangerous rip tides, this beach is popular for kitesurfers and windsurfers alike.
Another highlight of this trip is a visit to the fishing town of Cascais. Located at the western part of Lisbon, this town combines beautiful beaches, a friendly atmosphere, and a colorful history altogether. Cascais has been established as a holiday destination ever since the 19th century, earning it praises from the 19th century high-society vacationers that it accommodated before.
Enjoy local snacks and drinks at Piriquita, a cafe best known for its scrumptious cakes. This cafe is best advertised for its queijadas or Sintra cheesecakes as they are commonly called.
Last on the itinerary is a visit to Estoril. Similar to Cascais, this Portuguese beach resort has also attracted the famous and wealthy people of Portugal. Its casino became another selling point of the place when it became a filming location for James Bond's film, Casino Royale.

Overall, it was good. We had very few minutes in Sintra, not even enough time to sit and have a coffee. One of the tour guests d...id not get back on the bus, bus left without her, and then we had to go back to get her. That wasted about 30 minutes for all other guests. more
