What To Expect
We will leave downtown Lisbon to head to Sintra and its three majectic palaces known at the Portuguese Versailles.
Our first visit of the day will be the unique Pena National Palace, which is perched on the top of a hill above the town of Sintra and surrounded by lush vegetation. Enjoy a 2-hours guided visit of the Palace. Marvel at the Palace's architecture, colours, gargoyles, secret alcoves and much more! Do not miss the speactacular views from the gardens.
We will visit the town of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage site and known as the most romantic town in Portugal. After a 15 minutes city tour you'll have 1 hour 1/2 to explore its little streets lined with pastel-colored villas and shops. Try the typical small sweet cakes called queijadas and travesseiros pastries made from fluff pastry and almond paste.
Those who choose the Lunch option will enjoy a delicious meal at a local restaurant.
We will continue with the 18th-century Queluz National Palace. The Queluz Palace is one of the last great Rococo buildings to be designed in Europe. Learn about its architecture but also about the history of the Kings and Queens of Portugal. Explore the state and private apartments of the Palace during our 1.15 hour guided visit and walk through its beautiful gardens made of tall trees, labyrinths, fountains and lakes.
We will return to Lisbon at the end of the afternoon.
