About Manila Corregidor

There is power and anguish and glory in Corregidor that not even a million million waves can sweep clean off. The island of Corregidor, together with El Fraile, has been the site of much warfare and bloodshed in the name of freedom. It holds a heavily fortified outpost, where US and Filipino soldiers made their last stand against the invasion of Japanese forces. Each section of the island has a story to tell. Visit the Malinta Tunnel, used as bomb-proof storage, personnel bunker, and then hospital, where eerie sounds and ghostly apparitions have been reported. In fact, hovering over each part of the Fort—the old barracks, canyons, tanks, bunkers, and hospital ruins—is a sense of much history and martyrdom. So be ready for an intense experience…. The island is an 80-minute ferry ride from its dock at the CCP Complex along Roxas Boulevard. Recreational activities, like hiking, camping and overnight stay at the inn, are available at the island. Sun Cruises run the ferries to the island.

How to get there
By LRT: Vito Cruz, then by Orange shuttle to the CCP compound. By jeepney: with Baclaran or Harrison Plaza signboard—both pass by Vito Cruz St; hail the Orange shuttle.
