Kayaking equipment (kayak, paddle)
My first time in Hawaii and my husband and myself went on the kayak whale tour and I was nervous at first but the guide was so nice and he took very good care of us. Being in the open water and seeing the whales from a distance was very wonderful and I hope I can do this again soon. The kayaking was not very hard and I learned quickly thank to my guide and teacher.

Do I need to be able to swim to participate?
Being able to swim is recommended for your safety and comfort, however, wearing a flotation jacket will be required of everyone.
Are you required to wear a life jacket?
Yes, life jackets will be required to be worn at all times.
What if the kayak flips over?
You are not strapped into the kayak and are wearing a life vest. Your guide will happily assist you in getting back into the kayak and ready to go again.
Will we see whales?
Every year Humpback Whales migrate to the warm waters of Hawaii, and although not guaranteed, they are often seen between the months of December and April.

I highly recommend this tour. Our guide was exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable. If you want a fun and beautiful excursion ...book this tour! We saw sea turtles, many tropical fish, and even a shark. more
Get to see and touch urchins, squid, and small sharks. Also, a little description of the fishes in the area.
Our guide Kaleo was really great! He led our snorkel, pointing out and educating us on all kinds of sea life. We saw turtles, an e...agle ray, octopus, and lots of fish. The kayaking was fun, too! more

A delightful small group of six experience. John was right on top of everything- He was knowledgable on how to use all the equipm...ent and guided us to the best-ever reef for snorkeling. We saw many whales and two even gently surfaced about 15 feet away from our kayak. The reef was beautiful and very active with sealife- including giant turtles that hung around to greet us as we snorkled. Refreshing fresh food picnic. Best deli-style turkey sandwhich ever! more
Our guide Kaileo was a true local who whole-heartedly enjoyed sharing his ocean with us. He was extremely knowledgable and went be...yond what other 'mass market' tour companies offer. He lead out our small group and took the time to educate us about the reefs and ocean bottom, showing us turtles, octopus, starfish, eels and countless fish. (allowing us to even hold the octopus and starfish if we so desired!) I'd certainly go back again when in Maui and would reccomend this trip to anyone who is comfortable with the open ocean. Mahalo! more
We had a wonderful time. Other couple that was supposed to do our tour with us never showed up so we basically got a private tour ...and lunch. Guide was fantastic and fun more

Overall this could have been a much better experience if the activity was either longer or less expensive. Bascially we were out ...for under 2 hours. I did not feel that I got my money's worth. We paddled out to the channel then back in to snorkle and then came in. Sure the sights were great and our guide was wonderful, but for the price, this should have been 4 hour excursion. The location was really out of the way, but the area was excellant. We saw whales, turtles and lots of fish. more
