Description

Medellín is a city to love for its mountains, friendly people, history and culture. It is the second most important capital of Colombia and in 2013 it was chosen as the most innovative city in the world both for its architecture and its transportation system.

A hour and a half from Medellín we can find the town of Guatapé, one of the most beautiful villages of Antioquia with two main attractions: the Rock of Guatapé, an impressive stone 220 feet high which offers a beautiful view over the dam, and the Guatapé village with brightly painted baseboards and allusions to the paisa culture.

Itinerary

Hotel pick up and travel to Guatapé, an hour and a half from Medellin. We will first stop in the village of El Peñol, where we will meet his particular Church, a replica of the Rock of Guatapé . Then we head to the Rock of Guatapé and , optionally , people can climb to the summit to enjoy the beautiful view over the dam.

Then we will arrive at the town of Guatapé. Lunch at the dock of the reservoir and we will have a guided tour of this beautiful colorfull town to meet its streets , history and learn about the art carved on the walls of their houses which also tell their own story. We will visit the Memory Street, the Main Square and crafts workshops .

To end this unforgettable day, we will have a private tour boat for an hour by the dam. Enjoy the natural surroundings and visit the ruins of the ancient town of El Peñol, which was flooded to build the dam.
