For the Yucatan World Heritage Tour, the Chichen Itza Tour can be combined with either the Uxmal and Kabah + Eco Museo del Cacao, or the Uxmal Light and Sound Show.
A holy place for the Mayans for centuries, is the most famous of all late Mayan cities. Here you get to enjoy two full hours of a local guided tour, and get free time to re-enter on your own. The earliest buildings date from 600 A.D. Those built from the 10th century onward, which include Toltec symbols and styles, were a result of the Toltec invasion in 950 A.D. This merging of Maya and Toltec architectural style is unique to Chichen Itza. Furthermore into your historical journey, your semi-private tour also includes a visit to the Mayaland's Planetarium. Here, you'll hear stories and legends of the creation of the Mayan world.
You'll also get a buffet lunch and free access of facilities to the best hotel in the area - Hotel Mayaland. Enjoy the lounge by the swimming pool and enjoy some R&R at the botanical gardens.
We'll head first to Uxmal, the legendary Mayan ceremonial center renowned for its beautifully proportioned and lavishly decorated buildings. Then we will proceed to its sister city, Kabah, that boasts temples and palaces of superb stone mosaic facades. The architectural designs in both sites is pure Maya. Afterwards, we'll visit the Eco Museum del Cacao, to learn about the history of cocoa, it's importance to the Mayans, the way it's cultivated, and the traditional process to make chocolate.
When you've had your fill on the Mayan's architectural designs and rich history of cocoa, you may enjoy the facilities at The Lodge at the Uxmal facilities and enjoy a lunch as suggested and prepared by the Chef. Lounge or swim by the pool and enjoy free access to the Uxmal's First Explorer's Gallery, a favorite of Royalty and dignitaries, at the main house of the Hotel Hacienda Uxmal.
We'll head to Uxmal, the most splendid of all the Puuc sites, for your two-hour guided tour. This city boasts some of the finest specimens of the Mayan architecture and design. When you've had your visual fill on the Mayan's architectural designs, enjoy some R&R with the facilities at The Lodge at the Uxmal facilities, and enjoy a lunch as suggested and prepared by the Chef. Lounge or swim by the pool and enjoy free access to the Uxmal's First Explorer's Gallery, a favorite of Royalty and dignitaries, at the main house of the Hotel Hacienda Uxmal.
By nightfall, we'll headback to the Nunnery Quadrangle. Here, the Mayan splendor is recreated nightly by light and sound, enveloping the audience with its mystery.
After your day tour, you can enjoy two hours worth of guided sightseeing tour at the infamous "white city" of Merida. Experience this city at sundown, when the lights shine brightly. Discover its historic center and neighborhoods of Paseo de Montejo Avenue (most famous for its French-style residences), which was built at the turn of the century when the henequen industry was at its peak.
